Reading List 2
- The GoF is wrong on delegation: well, I think the first part is there to give some shock value, but the point is still true: we all talk about delegation but are we sure we know what we’re talking about?
- Windows RT (8 on ARM) details: Dell, Lenovo, Samsung seem to be on board (joining MS and Asus) with building Windows RT devices
- Case Study: Perch Redesign
- Case Study: Goodfilms Mobile Site and AngularJS: “Once we found Angular we stopped looking at alternatives” #JSFrameworks
- .css{user:agent;}: a js library that adds CSS classes to your <html> tag representing the browser’s user-agent. A good companion to Modernizr if you need client-side UA detection. Hat tip to +Ruben Orduz
- CSS Variables: latest changes to the proposed spec: from $foo to var(foo), and why.
- New Patent Lawsuit: Google Motorola vs Apple: seeks to block import of iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices. We might have to call this one “Motorola vs Apple” just to distinguish from the recently completed Google-vs-Apple spat. #Gavels keep on flying
- AppHarbor Alternative to MS ASP.NET Forms Authentication got MS attention: regardless of #MS attention, the alternative authentication system described here may be worth considering if you agree with AppHarbor on the shortcomings of the default ASP.NET Forms Authentication.
- Troubleshooting EF Connections and Migrations: because if you use Entity Framework you will sooner or later hit upon this sort of issues.
- PerlLinux: “a Linux distro where ALL programs are written in Perl”,and that’s pretty much all we need to say about that.
- Valve Time: a handy chart comparing the predictions from the Valve team and actual release dates. We can poke fun at the team in question, but I’d rather applaud their openess in discussing the topic. Hat tip to Albert McGraw via FB
